Does insurance cover regenerative medicine?

Short answer

In most cases, no. Most insurance plans still classify regenerative treatments like PRP, prolotherapy, and focal sound wave therapy as investigational and won't reimburse them. Great Physician is a direct-pay practice, so we don't bill insurance and you don't need a referral. Dr. Hric gives you exact pricing up front, detailed in our printable pricing sheet — with no surprises.

The honest answer: usually not

Most private insurers, and Medicare, still treat regenerative injections as investigational and don't reimburse for them. That applies to all three treatments we offer — PRP therapy, prolotherapy, and focal sound wave therapy. It isn't a reflection of whether they can help; it's that coverage policy has been slow to catch up with the evidence, and every plan draws the line a little differently.

We'd rather tell you that plainly than have you discover it at the billing desk. If a treatment is unlikely to help your situation, Dr. Hric will tell you that too, before cost ever enters the conversation.

How direct-pay works here

Great Physician is a direct-pay practice. Because we don't bill insurance, you don't need a referral and there's no prior-authorization runaround — you can simply book a consultation. That also keeps our pricing straightforward: you know the cost before you decide anything, with no hidden charges and no pressure.

Many patients can put an HSA or FSA toward treatment, since it's a qualified medical expense for most plans. Whether that works for you is between you and your plan administrator, so it's worth asking. If you'd like documentation to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network credit, we're happy to provide it, though we can't promise how any plan will respond.

Getting your exact price

Our fees are laid out in a printable pricing sheet you can review any time at /documents/core-treatments-transparent-pricing.pdf, and Dr. Hric goes over exact pricing with you up front at your consultation — before anything is scheduled. Since he performs every treatment personally and tailors the plan to your injury, the fee reflects your actual course of care rather than a one-size-fits-all package.

Consistent with our Conservative First approach, that first visit is also where Dr. Hric gives you a straight answer on whether a regenerative treatment is even the right tool for you — sometimes the least invasive, least expensive option is the honest recommendation. The next step is simply a consultation, with no obligation.
